I’m looking for a jabber client, it can’t be pinku (that’s japanese for pink). It has to have 2 or less uindou (that’s japanese for window). And has to be really kawaii (cute) or kakui (cool). Also it has to be open-source, and speak jabber and irc. And it would be nice if it came with a matching notification area (WITH notifications). OH! and it CANNOT have any exaggerated huge icons or be made out of java. I have found a chat client similar to the one I’m describing, but it was 9000 uindou, and I don’t want my messeiji (messages) to touch my other things, plus one window looks more kawaii.
More seriously, I’m looking for something to replace mcabber which can’t speak irc and doesn’t have all those features that come with graphical clients, like notifications and the ability to click stuff. Now, why do most IM-clients open a new window for every contact? I already have quite enough open windows, no reason to juggle more of them…
I’m currently trying kopete, which does have a few weaknesses, but it can be convinced to open every contact in the same window, which results in 2 windows, the other being the contact list. Not perfect, but it could be worse. Switching contacts takes getting used to, and clicking notifications moves the window to the current workspace instead of switching to the workspace the client is on.
I’ll try some more clients, and will keep you up to date how the search went.
Oh yes, original is here.
